Which Employees Are Eligible to Participate?

Eligible participants include both new hires and existing full-time employees who are permanent Michigan residents. To qualify, employees must be 18 years or older and employed in a full-time, permanent role by the company applying for the grant. The training must be directly related to their current or intended job responsibilities and lead to measurable skill gains or certifications.

What Kind of Training Programs Are Approved as Part of This Program?

The program supports a wide range of training options, including classroom training, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and customized training programs tailored to an employer’s needs. To qualify, training must be short-term, result in a credential or certification, and enhance the employee’s ability to do their job effectively. Safety training, leadership development, and technical skills training are commonly funded. The amount requested cannot exceed $2,000 per person or $3,500 per U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprentice.
